Therapy for ADHD

Living with ADHD (Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder) can be an overwhelming experience that impacts various aspects of your life but it doesn’t have to be. Get the help you deserve.

Understanding the Benefits of Therapy for ADHD

We understand the unique challenges individuals with ADHD face and offer tailored support to help them thrive. Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by difficulties with attention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.

Do you ever feel like you're not reaching your full potential because life just feels… chaotic? Maybe you're constantly misplacing things, missing deadlines, or feeling overwhelmed by the sheer volume of tasks on your plate. Perhaps you're a student struggling to keep up with schoolwork, extracurriculars, and a social life, or a working professional trying to juggle career demands, personal obligations, and long-term goals. Maybe you're a parent concerned about your child's academic performance, noticing a pattern of unfinished assignments, difficulty concentrating, impulsivity, and a general lack of motivation. It's also possible that you're an adult struggling with similar challenges in the workplace or at home, perhaps having difficulty focusing in meetings or managing your time effectively. These experiences can be particularly frustrating and may point to something more than just organizational difficulties.

It's a common misconception that only some people struggle with focus and attention. The truth is, people of all ages and backgrounds can find themselves challenged by time management, impulsivity, hyperactivity, and the ability to organize their lives effectively, all of which can be indicators of ADHD. These challenges can manifest differently – missed assignments for students, missed promotions for working adults, difficulty maintaining relationships, or simply a persistent feeling of being overwhelmed for everyone.

But here's the encouraging part: Understanding and managing these challenges is possible. We offer comprehensive support through three distinct avenues:

  • Our thorough assessment process helps pinpoint the specific areas where you or your child might be struggling. We delve into the root causes of difficulties with focus, attention, and organization, looking at everything from study habits to potential learning differences and exploring the possibility of ADHD. This detailed understanding allows us to create a highly personalized plan for improvement. Whether you're a student aiming for better grades, a professional seeking peak performance, or simply someone wanting to better understand themselves, our assessments provide valuable insights.

  • Sometimes, challenges with focus, attention, and organization are intertwined with other challenges like anxiety, depression, or the specific challenges of managing ADHD. Our therapists provide a safe and supportive space to address these underlying issues, equipping you with coping mechanisms and strategies to improve focus, organization, and emotional regulation. This approach is beneficial for individuals of all ages who suspect a connection between their emotional well-being and their ability to manage daily tasks and responsibilities.

  • Our coaching program is designed to provide practical, hands-on guidance. We work with you to develop tailored strategies for time management, prioritization, and effective organization, as well as strategies to manage impulsivity and improve focus. Whether you're a student learning to study smarter, a teen navigating the complexities of high school, or an adult striving for greater productivity and a more fulfilling life, our coaches offer the support and accountability you need to achieve your goals. We work with individuals of all ages to build personalized plans that lead to success.

  • Individuals with this type of ADHD experience significant challenges with attention, focus, and task completion. This can manifest in several ways:

    • Difficulty with sustained attention: Struggling to maintain focus, especially in structured environments like classrooms, workplaces, or during homework time. They may be easily distracted, even by internal thoughts or external stimuli.

    • Incomplete or inaccurate work: Tasks may be started but not finished, or completed with errors due to difficulty focusing on details.

    • Organizational challenges: Difficulty organizing tasks, prioritizing, and managing time, leading to feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to begin.

    • Forgetfulness: Frequently losing essential items (keys, phone, etc.), forgetting appointments, assignments, or daily tasks like chores and bills. This can also include forgetting to turn in completed schoolwork or write down assignments.

    • Apparent lack of listening: Difficulty maintaining focus during conversations, even when there are no obvious distractions. This can give the impression that the person isn't listening or doesn't care.

    • Avoidance of demanding tasks: A tendency to avoid tasks that require sustained mental effort.

  • Individuals with this type of ADHD primarily experience symptoms related to hyperactivity and impulsivity. These symptoms can significantly impact their behavior and interactions with others:

    • Excessive energy and restlessness: A feeling of being constantly "on the go," often described as being "driven by a motor." This can manifest as difficulty sitting still, fidgeting, tapping, or squirming.

    • Impulsivity: Difficulty waiting their turn, interrupting others, and blurting out answers or comments. This can lead to frustration in situations that require patience, such as waiting in line or participating in group activities.

    • Difficulty with quiet activities: Struggling to engage in quiet or sedentary activities. They may need to get up and move around, even when expected to sit still.

    • Excessive talking: Talking excessively, sometimes to the point of interrupting or dominating conversations.

    • Social challenges: Impulsive behaviors and difficulty with social cues can sometimes lead to misunderstandings or being perceived as disruptive or annoying by others.

  • Individuals with the combined type of ADHD experience a combination of inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms. To be diagnosed with this type, a person must meet the criteria for both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive ADHD. This means they experience significant challenges in both areas, which can lead to a wide range of difficulties:

    • Inattention: Similar to the inattentive type, individuals struggle with focus, concentration, organization, following instructions, and completing tasks. They may be easily distracted, forgetful, and have difficulty sustaining mental effort.

    • Hyperactivity/Impulsivity: Like the hyperactive-impulsive type, individuals exhibit excessive energy, restlessness, impulsivity, and difficulty controlling their actions and words. They may fidget, interrupt others, struggle with waiting their turn, and have trouble engaging in quiet activities.
