As a veteran, former Correctional Officer and Chaplain, Jim brings many facets to his counseling services as a member of the Freedom Counseling Group.
He holds a BA degree in ministry from Trinity Biblical University. I am also a licensed Chaplain with Valley Evangelical Free Church in Vacaville, CA. He received his Master of Arts degree in Clinical Pastoral Counseling from Colorado Theological Seminary and a doctorate from Colorado Theological Seminary and the National Christian Counselors Association in Clinical Pastoral Counseling. While Jim focuses primarily on first responders, the military and their families and the issues they face, he truly believes that everyone can benefit from biblical counseling.
Jim is, first and foremost, a Christian counselor. This impacts his counseling practice because while he believes many of his clients’ issues are spiritual, they can also be due to physiological, psychological, environmental, or social reasons. Since we are created in God’s triune image, fulfillment and lasting peace can only be established through a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Healing of our spirit, soul and body will come to us as we align with His will and purpose for our lives, finding our purpose.
As a Christian counselor, his main goal is to guide clients toward greater emotional and spiritual health by expanding their understanding of God’s forgiveness, especially His incredible grace.
Jim also holds certifications as a Board Certified Crisis Response Chaplain (BCCRC) from the International Board of Christian Care (IBCC), a Certified Crisis Incident Stress Management (CCISM), and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
As a Christian counselor, God is the ultimate authority in counseling situations. He provides us with His wisdom and strength to change our thinking and behavior. Counseling sessions with me involve prayer and using the Bible for guidance.
